Shannon Eusey, co-founder and chair of Beacon Pointe Advisors, has been appointed to the advisory board of CogniCor, a Palo Alto-based provider of AI-driven intelligence and orchestration tools for RIAs and wealth management enterprises. The appointment, announced this week, comes as CogniCor seeks to deepen its roots in the independent advisory channel and refine its product roadmap amid rising demand for AI-native infrastructure.

Eusey brings more than three decades of industry experience to the role. She helped build Beacon Pointe into a registered investment advisor with over $62 billion in assets under management. Earlier this year, the firm transitioned leadership, with longtime president Matthew Cooper stepping into the chief executive role while Eusey assumed the chairmanship. Her background also includes a stint as senior managing director and portfolio manager at Roxbury Capital Management, as well as board service with Banc of California, the Charles Schwab Advisor Council, and the TD Ameritrade Advisory Council.

CogniCor's platform, known as Advisor Copilot, is designed to unify data scattered across a firm's technology stack, capturing client interactions and surfacing recommended next steps without requiring advisors to toggle between multiple applications. The company says its goal is to turn fragmented information into coordinated action across households and practices, a pitch that resonates as advisory firms grapple with efficiency pressures.

In a statement, Eusey emphasized the importance of integration. "Fragmented AI and fragmented data create fragmented decisions," she said. "CogniCor unifies fragmented data into a single intelligence and orchestration layer, transforming it into coordinated intelligence and orchestrated action across households, advisor practices, and the firm." Her remarks underscore a broader industry conversation about the role of AI in scaling personalized advice.

The advisory board refresh is part of a strategic expansion for CogniCor, which is backed by venture capital. The company's leadership points to three converging trends: a shortage of financial advisors relative to client demand, the anticipated retirement of up to 40% of experienced advisors over the next decade, and a growing pool of affluent households seeking tailored guidance. These dynamics are creating what CogniCor executives call an inflection point for the advice industry.

Dr. Sindhu Joseph, CEO and co-founder of CogniCor, said the capacity challenge cannot be solved by hiring alone. "Despite concerted recruitment efforts, firms will be hard-pressed to meet the growing demand for financial guidance with new advisors alone over the coming decade," she said. "The real opportunity isn't just solving the advisor capacity challenge — it's expanding access to personalized financial advice."

The appointment also reflects a broader trend of industry veterans joining technology firms to guide product development. Similar moves have been seen across the wealthtech space, as companies seek to align their offerings with the practical needs of advisors. For example, Dispatch recently formed an advisory board with former executives from Hightower, Focus, and eMoney, highlighting the value placed on experienced counsel.

Eusey's dual perspective as both a platform user and an industry builder was central to her selection, according to Joseph. "Shannon has a well-earned reputation as a visionary, innovative, and deeply respected leader; the right voice at the right time as we shape the next chapter of our company," she said. The advisory board will play a key role in shaping CogniCor's growth strategy as it looks to expand its footprint among RIAs and larger wealth management firms.

The move comes at a time when advisory firms are increasingly exploring AI tools to improve efficiency and client service. As Orion and RFG Advisory have demonstrated, digital solutions are being deployed to address operational bottlenecks. CogniCor's focus on unifying data and orchestrating advisor actions positions it to capitalize on this momentum.
