Larry Roth, a seasoned executive with over three decades in the independent broker-dealer space, has been appointed to the advisory board of JIFFY AI, a Milpitas, California-based artificial intelligence company specializing in wealth management technology. The move comes as wealthtech firms increasingly seek domain expertise to differentiate their AI offerings.
Roth's career includes serving as CEO of Advisor Group (now Osaic) from 2006 to 2013, where he navigated the firm through the 2008 financial crisis while parent company AIG faced near-collapse. He later led Cetera Financial Group from 2014 to 2016, steering it through the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of its parent, RCS Capital Corp., in a prepackaged restructuring that preserved brokerage operations. Earlier, he founded Vestax Securities in the 1980s, growing it to hundreds of registered representatives before its acquisition by ING Group.
Currently, Roth is founder and CEO of Ascentix Partners (formerly RLR Strategic Partners), a consulting firm advising wealth management firms, fintech companies, and investors on growth, transformation, and M&A. His appointment to JIFFY AI's board reflects a broader trend of wealthtech companies recruiting executives with deep operational experience to guide product development.
“The wealth management industry is entering a defining era where competitive advantage will increasingly come from industry-specific AI capabilities rather than generic technology,” Roth said in JIFFY AI's announcement. “Firms need solutions that understand the realities of advisory businesses – from complex workflows and regulatory requirements to multi-custodian operations.”
JIFFY AI's core platform aims to unify enterprise and custodial data, converting it into actionable intelligence embedded in advisor and client workflows. In March, the firm launched the AI Advisor Companion at the T3 Technology Conference in New Orleans. The tool automates client meeting preparation, note-taking, scheduling, onboarding, and compliance documentation. According to JIFFY AI, the Companion can boost advisor efficiency by up to 40%.
The company's existing client base includes Cetera Financial Group, Roth's former network. In 2022, Cetera partnered with JIFFY AI to automate key business features and implement advanced tools for financial professionals. The partnership underscores the growing demand for AI solutions tailored to the advisory industry's specific needs.
Roth's addition comes as wealthtech firms race to differentiate AI products along vertical lines rather than offering generic automation tools. A recent AssetMark study found that operational discipline, not market gains, drives top advisory firm growth, highlighting the importance of efficiency tools like those JIFFY AI provides.
“As AI reshapes wealth management, firms will need a trusted data foundation that enables better decisions, greater operational efficiency, and more personalized client experiences,” said JIFFY AI CEO Sivadasan in the announcement. “Larry's leadership experience and deep understanding of the wealth management ecosystem make him an exceptional addition to our advisory board.”
The appointment signals JIFFY AI's intent to scale its platform amid intensifying competition in the wealthtech AI space. With Roth's crisis-tested leadership and industry connections, the firm is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the market for AI-driven advisory tools.
