Carson Group, the Omaha-based wealth management platform overseeing more than $60 billion in client assets, has finalized the acquisition of FFR Wealth Team, a Covington, Kentucky-based registered investment advisor. The deal, announced this week, fully integrates the $201 million practice into Carson Wealth as an office, ending its previous status as an independent partner.
FFR Wealth Team first affiliated with Carson in 2018, operating as a standalone office under the Carson umbrella. The latest step grants the Kentucky team access to Carson's full suite of advisor resources, including advanced planning support, operational infrastructure, Private Client Services, and the broader network of practitioners across the platform. The firm said the integration will free advisors to focus on proactive planning and deepen client relationships while maintaining a community-focused approach.
The practice, led by managing partners and wealth advisors Shelley Funke Frommeyer, CFP, and Scott Reynolds, CFP, specializes in multi-generational planning for affluent families, business owners, and retirees. Its services encompass comprehensive financial planning, tax strategy, retirement preparation, and guidance through complex life transitions. The team has built a reputation for close client relationships in Northern Kentucky.
Carson Group CEO Burt White emphasized that the qualities that initially attracted the firm to FFR Wealth Team remain intact. "What drew us to this team years ago still defines them today — humility, authenticity and an unwavering commitment to the people they serve," White said. "Their transition to becoming an integrated Carson Wealth office reflects our shared vision of strengthening client relationships, providing exceptional service and delivering greater value to investors."
Frommeyer said the move positions the practice for long-term continuity. "We've spent years building relationships with families and business owners throughout Northern Kentucky, and we believe this transition will help create long-term stability for both our clients and our team," she said. "Carson gives us the added resources and succession path to build something enduring — a firm designed to thrive for the next 100 years while still delivering the personalized care and community connection that have always defined who we are."
Reynolds pointed to Carson's momentum as a driving factor. "Carson Group is like a rocket ship, and we wanted to be attached to that momentum," he said. "We've had a front-row seat to Carson's growth over the last several years, and what stood out to us was that the culture continues to thrive." He added that the move allows the team to deliver a high-touch experience while expanding capabilities.
The acquisition is the latest in a series of moves by Carson Group to expand its network. The firm has been actively recruiting advisors and acquiring practices, leveraging its platform to provide resources that help advisors scale. The integration of FFR Wealth Team follows similar deals, such as Wealth Enhancement's acquisition of the $760 million Shufro-Glass Group and Clearstead's acquisition of a $2.6 billion Philadelphia team from myCIO.
Industry observers note that the trend of independent RIAs seeking deeper integration with larger platforms is accelerating, as advisors look for operational efficiencies and succession planning. Carson's model, which offers both independent and integrated options, appears to be resonating with practices like FFR Wealth Team that prioritize long-term stability.
The FFR Wealth Team office will continue to operate from Covington, serving clients across Northern Kentucky. With the addition, Carson Wealth's network now includes more than 1,400 advisors nationwide.
