Corient, the Miami-headquartered wealth management firm that rebranded from CI Private Wealth nearly three years ago, has reportedly added a French multi-family office to its growing roster of international acquisitions. According to a report from CityWire, the firm closed a deal to acquire LetUs Private Office last Friday. Neither Corient nor LetUs Private Office has commented on the transaction.
The move is the latest in a series of aggressive expansion efforts by Corient over the past year. In 2023, the firm acquired Vivaldi Capital Management, a Chicago-based firm with $5.6 billion in assets under management, and the Bedrock Group, a Swiss wealth manager and multi-family office overseeing $10.7 billion. These acquisitions have significantly bolstered Corient's presence in both the U.S. and Europe.
Corient's international ambitions extend beyond Europe. In April, the firm announced the opening of a Canadian office, part of what CEO Kurt MacAlpine described as a deliberate strategy to build a global platform rather than a patchwork of regional acquisitions. “Corient is moving with purpose and momentum. In just six years, we have become the largest integrated wealth management firm in the US, are establishing a significant presence across EMEA, and are now entering Canada,” MacAlpine said at the time.
The firm's European expansion was further accelerated last September when Corient unveiled dual strategic alliances with Stonehage Fleming and Stanhope Capital Group. These partnerships collectively added over $214 billion in client assets, amplifying Corient's footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. MacAlpine noted at the time, “With this expansion, Corient becomes the world’s largest independent advisory firm focused on the holistic needs of ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients.”
The acquisition of LetUs Private Office, while smaller in scale than some of Corient's previous deals, underscores the firm's commitment to deepening its presence in key European markets. France, with its concentration of ultra-high-net-worth families, represents a strategic addition to Corient's global network.
Corient's rapid growth trajectory mirrors broader trends in the wealth management industry, where consolidation and international expansion have become key strategies for firms seeking to serve increasingly global client bases. The firm's ability to integrate acquisitions across multiple jurisdictions will be closely watched by competitors and advisors alike.
For financial advisors, Corient's moves highlight the growing importance of cross-border capabilities in serving wealthy clients. As the firm continues to build out its platform, it may set a benchmark for other RIAs and wealth managers eyeing international expansion.
