Farther, the wealth management platform serving independent advisors, has announced the addition of Casey Bear as a principal wealth advisor. Bear brings with him $225 million in client assets and more than a decade of experience leading a billion-dollar registered investment advisory firm.
Bear previously served as chief executive of Cranbrook Wealth Management, a Michigan-based RIA with over $1 billion in assets under management. During his 13-year tenure, he developed a specialized approach for clients with complex financial situations, coordinating with estate attorneys, accountants, and investment bankers. His background also includes a law degree and a stint as a collegiate soccer player, which he says instilled discipline and a results-oriented mindset.
At Farther, Bear will leverage the firm's integrated financial platform, which offers tools such as tax-loss harvesting, automatic portfolio rebalancing, asset location strategies, and personalized investment exclusions. The platform is designed to provide clients with a consolidated view of their finances, enhancing transparency and coordination between advisors and clients.
“Running a legacy RIA for years as CEO taught me exactly where traditional wealth management breaks down – and what it would take to fix it,” Bear said in a statement. “I needed a platform that not only helped to alleviate administrative burdens but also empowered me to best serve my clients' complex wealth needs. Farther is the first firm I've found that delivers this level of operational empowerment while still matching the high-touch service my clients deserve.”
Bear's deliberate focus on a concentrated client roster allows him to dedicate more attention to each relationship. Farther's technology aims to further customize the client experience, aligning with the firm's model of combining high-touch service with investment sophistication.
“Casey's approach to the client experience directly aligns with the Farther operating model, where high-touch service meets investment sophistication, and technology allows him to deliver a tailored experience at scale,” said Bailey, vice president and head of growth at Farther. “Our promise to advisors like Casey has always been to provide the tools to spend more time with clients and less time working around their technology. Farther's Intelligent Wealth Platform allows us to deliver on this promise.”
The move comes as the RIA industry continues to see consolidation and platform migration, with advisors seeking technology that reduces administrative burdens while maintaining personalized service. Farther, which has been expanding its advisor network, positions itself as a platform that combines technology with advisor autonomy. Bear's addition underscores the firm's strategy of attracting seasoned advisors with substantial books of business.
