Nevis raises $70M as AI platforms vie for advisors' back-office work

Wealthtech firms are racing to automate more of advisors' daily operations, with Nevis, Tandems, and Zeplyn unveiling new AI capabilities.

Wealth-management technology providers are escalating their push to automate the administrative side of advisory work, with several firms unveiling new artificial-intelligence tools and one major funding round this week. The developments underscore a broader race to build AI "operating systems" that can handle everything from client onboarding to compliance paperwork.

New York-based Nevis said it has closed a $70 million Series B round led by EQT Ventures, bringing its total funding to $110 million. The round includes strategic investment from Schwab, as well as QuantumLight, the fund founded by Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky. Existing backers Sequoia Capital, ICONIQ, and Ribbit Capital also increased their stakes. The company said assets on its platform have surged to $700 billion from $50 billion in 2026, with monthly growth of about $75 billion. Revenue has climbed more than 25-fold over the same period, and its client roster includes Focus Financial Partners, IEQ Capital, and United Capital.

Nevis combines customer relationship management, meeting intelligence, financial planning, and custodial workflows in a single system. The company says its AI agents have completed more than 100,000 operational tasks, and advisors using the platform reclaim up to 10 hours per week, hold 30% more prospect meetings, and can open accounts in days rather than weeks. Jon Beatty, head of Schwab Advisor Services, said the partnership expands Schwab's ecosystem and helps advisors "harness AI to operate more efficiently." Carolina Brochado, a partner at EQT Ventures, will join Nevis's board.

Meanwhile, San Francisco-based Tandems—formerly known as SigFig—has launched Hamilton, an AI assistant embedded in its WealthOS platform. The company says Hamilton can handle up to 80% of an advisor's daily tasks, including financial planning, portfolio rebalancing, meeting preparation, account opening, asset transfers, and paperwork. Mike Sha, co-founder and CEO of Tandems, said that most AI products for advisors today are "largely notetakers," but Hamilton is designed to make advisors more efficient and impactful. Hamilton integrates seven systems and 45 tools within WealthOS, using a "Model Harness Optimizer" to route each task to the best-suited model among Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini, with an option for firms to connect their own models. Built-in connections cover Schwab, Fidelity, National Financial, Pershing, FIS, Fiserv, and Salesforce.

Tandems is also emphasizing governance features, including the ability to adjust conversations to comply with state AI laws and maintain a full audit log of every AI-assisted client interaction. Firms can disable a single skill, a single model, or all AI activity in real time. The launch comes as the SEC's Division of Examinations has named "super intelligence" among its 2027 exam priorities, focusing on policies related to fraud detection, back-office work, AML and Reg BI compliance, and trading. Tandems reports more than 5,000 advisors using its platform, including at Wells Fargo, Scotiabank, Citizens, and New York Life, with $80 billion in assets across 2.7 million accounts.

New York-based Zeplyn has introduced Zeplyn Workflows, which converts a firm's operating playbooks into multistep processes that run across systems and departments. The product targets advisor transitions, client onboarding, and account opening. It runs on Zeplyn Agent Nexus, the AI orchestration engine launched earlier this year. Each workflow tracks an owner, status, and activity history, and pauses at designated approval points. AI agents interpret information and choose next steps within set limits, while rule-based actions validate data and update systems. The product uses more than 50 wealth-specific agents and connects to more than 30 advisor systems.

The flurry of product launches and funding comes as advisory firms increasingly seek to offload routine tasks to AI, allowing advisors to focus on client relationships and business development. As Focus Financial's adoption of Nevis illustrates, large aggregators are betting on AI to improve efficiency across their networks. Meanwhile, the recent rate hike may prompt more advisors to lean on technology to manage client communications and compliance, though the direct link remains speculative.

Industry observers note that the AI operating system race is still in its early innings, with no single platform yet dominating. The ability to integrate with custodians and other core systems, as well as robust compliance controls, will likely determine which providers gain traction. For advisors, the promise of reclaiming hours each week and accelerating account openings is compelling, but they must also weigh the risks of relying on AI for sensitive client data and regulatory compliance.
